El is the father of the gods in Semitic Paganism. He inspired not only the Hebrew God of the Bible, but also Allah of Islam.
El is basically an alcoholic and has all kinds of wacky adventures. Once, when the gods were young, El was walking by an oasis when he spotted two goddesses bathing. El went up to the goddesses and introduced himself. El became extremely sexually aroused by the two goddesses and decided to cook them a nice dinner. Then he offered the goddesses a deal. Either they could be his daughters or his wives.
For whatever reason, those goddesses decided to be his wives. One of those goddesses was Asherah, who went on to be Queen of Heaven. With her, El had seventy children who all grew up to be powerful gods.
FUN FACT: After the ancient Hebrews consolidated and began worshiping Yahweh exclusively, they believed for some time that Asherah was Yahweh's wife.
What does El look like? I am so happy you asked! El is a bearded man who wears a headdress adorned with bull's horns. You could say that the bull is El's totem.
Similar to Zeus, El lives on top of a mountain where he holds council with the other gods. There, he often throws massive banquets and dinner parties where he frequently gets shit-face drunk.
So there you have it. The basics of El. Any questions?
